The successful candidates will be required to work in the Environmental Engineering Business. They will be expected to be available and medically fit to travel to site, work in a team environment and apply a high degree of problem-solving in execution of their duties. The positions will be based in Pretoria

THE ROLE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• We are looking for a Civil Engineer/Technologist who wishes to further his/her career in environmental engineering. This position is regarded as a professional person in the delivery of engineering services, in line with the BEAL suite of engineering products. The responsibilities of the successful candidate include but are not limited to the following:

• Design engineer in environmental services and projects in mining and industrial applications

• Conceptualising and developing appropriate, feasible solutions to address environmental engineering related challenges and assisting with the articulation of these using reports, spreadsheets and drawings, and integrating into a final product

• Provide technical advice and consultancy on complex design issues to clients (internal & external)

• Consulting and collaborating with other specialists within BEAL to develop technical solutions to specific aspects of environmental engineering

• Build or has a reputation as Technical Consultant

Develop or has established client relationships (internal and external)

Use advanced techniques, modifications and practices to synthesise designs for decision making / recommendations

Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods and research & development

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• Referred minimum qualifications and skill sets include the following:

• BTech/BEng degree in civil or environmental engineering

• Engineering design experience at a consulting firm

• Exposure to mining and industrial projects will be advantageous

SOFTWARE SKILLS

• Basic proficiency in Autocad Civil 3D is advantageous

• Proficient use of MS Excel; MS Word; MS PowerPoint; and other Microsoft Office applications

CORE COMPETENCIES

Preference will be given to a candidate with:

• Spatial planning experience and numerical ability

• Knowledge of the mining and industrial sectors in South Africa and Africa, particularly within the field of environmental engineering, rehabilitation and closure

• Project management experience

Other competencies include:

• Numeracy and ability to deal with multiple-level cost worksheets;

• Technical writing capability;

• Spatial and three-dimensional thinking and planning ability;

• Works with specific and regular direction from intermediate and/or senior staff.
